The Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) at Standford Hall Receives Royal Visit

An Amazing Facility

Many of you will have seen the news that the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge paid a visit to the new Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre [DMRC] at Stanford Hall near Loughborough.

This is wonderful and highlighted the superb work being carried out by the staff at Stanford Hall to provide a range of treatments for serving military personnel who have suffered battlefield, neurological, or other injuries and illnesses.

The centre is part of the overall Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre (DNRC) programme, which is also proposing a facility-sharing arrangement with the National Health Service at Stanford Hall. The DNRC was the idea of the late sixth Duke of Westminster, Gerald Grosvenor, who led the £300 million fundraising drive with a truly staggering personal gift of £70 million, and Prince William attended the official handover in June 2018.

Those of us that served in the military many years ago all remember the wonderful work carried out at Headley Court in Surrey which treated 20,000 people each year. Four times larger than Headley Court, Stanford Hall is an amazing facility that provides state of the art equipment.

We are proud to have represented a number of clients who have benefitted from being referred to Stanford Hall, all of whom praised the work and the results of their treatment.  The medical reports from Stanford Hall are also invaluable in providing good quality evidence to Veterans UK in support of an Armed Forces Compensation Scheme [AFCS] claim.

It is worth noting, particularly for those former servicemen and women who read our blog, that although veterans can undergo an assessment at the DMRC it offers treatment only for serving military personnel.
