Veterans UK backlog persists indefinitely
We’ve been receiving updates from Veterans UK confirming that decisions have been made on numerous claims. We’ve been waiting in excess of 3 months now for these decision letters to arrive and the waiting time appears to be getting longer.
Despite what the MOD states publicly, the average waiting time for an Armed Forces Compensation Scheme (AFCS) claim, from submission to an award of compensation, is currently 7 to 8 months. War Pension Scheme claims are now taking over 12 months, with many of our clients waiting 18 months or more.
We want to reassure our clients that we:
- Email Veterans UK monthly to request updates.
- Respond within 24 hours to any request for further information on a claim.
Unfortunately, our ability to exert pressure on the MOD is limited. We share your frustration and will continue to advocate strongly on your behalf.
